A Workshop on the Drafting and Harmonization of Local Park By-Laws for Local Authorities in the State of Johor was held at KSL Resort & Hotel, Johor Bahru. The Kota Tinggi District Council, as the appointed organizer and coordinator by the State Secretary Office of Johor (SUKKT), was responsible for coordinating the drafting of these By-Laws at the Johor State Local Authority level.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Mohamad Haziq bin A. Rahman, Legal Officer of Johor Bahru City Council and concurrently the Deputy President 1 of JURIS of JOHORE, who served as the moderator for the session. Also present were Legal Officers / Assistant Legal Officers of Local Authorities, as well as representatives from other Local Authorities in Johor, comprising Enforcement Officers and Town and Country Planning Officers.
The workshop discussed the contents of the draft Local Park By-Laws, which were adapted to current needs and field enforcement practices. In addition, the workshop served as a platform for participating officers to share legal insights, ideas, and conduct detailed reviews based on current guidelines and existing procedures.
As a result, the finalized draft and content of the Local Park By-Laws can be proposed to the Johor State Government for standardization and enforcement, in line with the recommendation of the Honorable Chairman of the Johor State Housing and Local Government Committee. The formulation and harmonization of these By-Laws according to current needs are essential to ensure that management and enforcement within park areas, including residential parks, can be carried out efficiently, thereby safeguarding the safety of local residents or the public, particularly children. Compliance with the By-Laws to be gazetted in the future is a responsibility shared by all parties for the benefit of everyone.
